Recovery

As a Sports/ Remedial massage therapist, my job role is to utilise advanced manipulation techniques such as Soft Tissue Massage, Soft Tissue Release, Muscle Energy Technique and Trigger Points Technique which aim to alter tissue status and reduce ache and pain, reduce swelling and muscle restriction. Sports massage enhances the recovery from intensive physical activity, injuries from repetitive activities and inappropriate exercise activities. It also corrects poor posture and ultimately prevents further injuries for both athletes and non-athletes.

We offer incentivised massage packages for you to achieve maximum benefits from Sports/Remedial massage for someone who would like to have ongoing treatments for chronic pain, acute pains and stress release as well as prevention of injury.

Relaxation

Sports massage also improves blood circulation and flow, encourages distribution of oxygen to the body and eliminates toxin and lactic acid in muscles. During high intensity activities the body releases Endorphins, serotonin and dopamine as positive hormones which make muscles relaxed whereby treatment from Sports and Remedial massage will gain a positive phycological effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Remedial massage?

Similar to sports massage, remedial massage is used to treat injury and musculoskeletal pain or dysfunction. Remedial massage techniques include soft tissue massage, trigger points therapy, joint mobilisation, and passive/ active stretching movements. The therapist will conduct a full consultation prior to the first session to find out your concerns, muscles ability, joint movement and to create the most appropriate treatment plan to meet your needs. The most common conditions for treatment include muscular imbalance in upper crossed syndrome from desk work, sciatica pain, chronic lower back pain, sports injuries, rotator cuffs injury, repetitive strain injury, wrist, knee and ankle injuries/ acute pain. Alternatively, same as Sports massage that body releases Endorphins, serotonin and dopamine as positive hormone which makes muscles to be relaxed and receive phycological effect from Remedial massage treatment.

Is Sports massage painful?

You may feel mild pain or discomfort from some Sports massage techniques; however, clients will always be asked that they are comfortable with the pressure. We adjust the pressure depending on the areas of the body, the actual condition and the area surrounding the injuries sight. A client consultation is performed at each visit to discuss appropriate massage progression plan, to ensure that the client is comfortable and happy with the plan.

How do I feel after having a Sports Massage?

You may feel sore after a Sports/ Remedial massage due to stimulation of the muscles, but this really varies from each individual. For example, if the person has not had a Sports massage in a while or if it’s their first-time receiving a Sports massage, it is expected that soreness may be greater for this individual. But do not worry, the therapist will guide you with after care at the conclusion of your massage session. You may feel tired after a Sports Massage, so it is best not to conduct intensive exercises after the treatment, and it is recommended to hydrate your body well with frequent water intake.

Can you adjust the massage pressure?

Yes, the therapist can customise the pressure to your preference, so if preferred a light to medium pressure soft tissue massage and soft tissue release can be performed. We alter the massage pressure to include the effective lymphatic stroke and scalp massage so that you will feel relaxed in your phycological and physical, both way after the massage session.
